For a typical three-year-old gas vehicle, expect about $20.00 per year — driving an EV changes that to $258.59. Georgia's annual registration is just $20, because the state front-loads vehicle taxation into the one-time Title Ad Valorem Tax (TAVT) — 7% of the vehicle's fair market value paid at purchase or when moving to Georgia. Battery EVs pay an annual alternative-fuel fee of $238.59 for the year beginning July 2026 (re-indexed every July); plug-in hybrids pay it only if they elect an alternative-fuel plate.
Inspection you'll need before Georgia will register it

Transfer your out-of-state driver's license
New residents also swap their license. In Georgia a license runs $32.00 to transfer, then $32.00 to renew every 8 years, issued by the Georgia DDS. A REAL ID-compliant license costs no extra. Do this before you register — most states want a local license or proof of residency on the registration application.
